POTTER HILL PRESERVE is located approximately one-half mile west of Route 3 at the junction of Route 78, which offers easy access to Route 95 north and south in both Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut. Providence is a mere thirty miles to the north with major centers of activity even closer at Groton and New London Connecticut, along with the ferry to Block Island and Long Island, and a municipal airport. Major shopping, super markets, pharmacies, dry goods, lumber and hardware are all located a few miles to the south along Route 1, where you will also find great restaurants, movie theaters, entertainment and some of the finest ocean beaches in the northeast. TO GET TO POTTER HILL PRESERVE: From Providence and points north take Route 95 to Rhode Island exit #1; turn right at top of ramp onto Main Street (Route 3); follow for five miles to Pawcatuck River; turn right immediately upon crossing river onto Hiscox Road; follow Hiscox Road to stop sign; go straight though stop sign onto Potter Hill Road. Potter Hill Preserve is located 4 tenths of a mile on the right. From Connecticut and Points south take Route 95 to Connecticut exit #92; turn right at end of ramp onto Route 2 south; follow Route 2 to Route 78; turn right onto Route 78; take first exit off Route 78; turn left at end of ramp onto Boombridge Road to stop sign; turn right onto Potter Hill Road; Potter Hill Preserve is located ½ mile on the left. |
